Case Closed

Today we close the case, the person that did it was .......Mrs Taaffe. She came to school in the holidays because she needed to drop off a few things and she went into the Whetu building and took the HDMI cable and took a few chocolates from the jar. The reason why she did it was because she likes mini chocolates. This happened on Friday the 9th of October to Sunday the 11th of October. Mrs Taaffe came in this morning and we told her evidence on why we think it's her, and she later confessed.

Fingerprints

For today in our homerooms, we did our first rotation for this week. We learned how to lift fingerprints off surfaces. We first had to rub our thumb in our hair to get oil on our thumb so can press our thumbs on the window, and then we had to put cornflower on this brush, and then we dipped the brush in the cornflower and brushed the print on the window and after that, we lifted our fingerprints off the window with tape.

The Mystery of the Missing Medal (literacy)

For my literacy Mystery, I was working with Alyssa on figuring out who stole the medal. It was really hard so I wanted to work with someone. The best part about doing mystery is doing the clues to find out who did it. For my working out, I glued the suspect list on the right page and did the working out on google drawing and did the clues on the left page.

The Missing Slice of Cake Coding Mystery

I choose Anna Paquin for my research because I have never heard of her before. The hardest part was making the drawings because I wanted to make it perfect but I didint want to have too much going on. The easy part about this was writing the report because we had to research about her and put the reaserach on a peice of paper before writing the report which made it easier.

Whetū Workshops Reflection

During Term 2 and 3 the Whetū students have had the opportunity to be involved in a range of different workshops.

The workshop that I have enjoyed participating in the most has been science because I like science experiments.

The new learning that I have learnt is drama because I have never done drama before and it was fun.

What I have most enjoyed about the workshops are that we could pick whatever one we wanted to do.

I am interested in learning more about science experiments and things that react when mixed together.

Zoo Inquiry "so what?"

So what?

This is my zoo inquiry, my opinion is that zoos are great for endangered animals. I did a poster because I thought it would bring peoples attention to the poster, I also tried to make the colours pop. Since I think that zoos are great I put good facts about zoos and how they help endangered animals. I give my inquiry a supanova because I was sick and only had three days to complete and I did and I put a lot of detail in.

My Term 2, 2020 Reflection

The new learning activity that I have enjoyed the most this term is the opt-in workshops because we could choose what to do for our learning.

Something that has challenged me this term has been Number of the Day but it's getting easier.

The Whetu Challenge I enjoyed the most was the Catapult Challenge because it was fun catapulting the pompom and making the catapult with my friends.

The opt-in workshop I enjoyed the most was Dance which was taken with Mrs Fraser. We did line dancing and it was so much fun.

An aim I have for my learning is to keep focused on my learning and not get distracted by others.

Matariki writing challenge

Today I finished the Matariki writing challenge, I coloured it with felt tips but I didn't colour the whole thing in. For the first worksheet →
I had to fill in the missing words and I had to design my own kite.

For the other worksheet I had to make my own calendar to show when Matariki starts and then
I had to write three facts from the fact card.

Tuesday, 23 June 2020

Matariki reading challenge

For this task, we had to do some true or false facts about Matariki. For the facts, we had to see the answers on the doc. We had to tick or cross off the true or false facts. The last question was a little tricky because it didn't come up with anything so I thought that if it didn't come up with anything it was a false statement.

whetu challenge (paper plane)

Whetu Challenge - Paper Planes

Today our challenge was to design an accurate paper plane. We were given a draft piece of paper to trial and a good piece to use once we had tested the accuracy of it.

Before we started I thought this challenge was going to be about how high and how long it goes but instead we had to do a landing and a bullseye.

I decided to use the design because it worked well but I just had to aim.

The hardest part was to aim because the plane went the other way.

During our competition time I managed to get it on the runway.

Synthesis eggs week 10

For my synthesis eggs, I researched on the biggest beetle (which is called Titanus giganteus).
I thought that it was the size of my hand but it was a bit bigger than my hand (I checked with a ruler).
it can grow up to 16 cm and my hand is 15cm. These beetles are harmless but will defend if necessary with there spicky spines and there very stong jaws.
